Virgin Media 3d TV

Virgin media offered HD long before Sky, however Sky HD offering had superior marketing and was better packaged as a product.

3d TV is available free to all Virgin Media TV customers, you’ll just need to supply your own 3D telly and glasses, Virgin is making a range of 3D movies and even some TV programmes available to it’s subscribers.

Virgin Media has got a gift for all those with 3D goggleboxes: a new 3D Movies On Demand service. It’s the first of its kind in the UK, bringing new 3D films straight to your living room.

The 3D Movies On Demand service makes good on Virgin’s promise that its set-top boxes are already 3D ready, and is powered by FilmFlex. Virgin Media says it’s planning to “build its 3D portfolio over the coming months,” as more 3D programmes and movies become available, and as 3D TVs become a more common sight in British homes.

Virgin 3d Media is offering films for £5.99 for a 24 hour rental which compares well with Freeview HD offerings.  A range of 3D movies are lined up for release including Avatar. Sky 3d is also available to UK TV subscribers.

Virgin was also first out of the blocks in the race for 3d TV, beating Sky 3d and BT 3d to be the first to offer a 3d TV experience
